Saint Paisios the Athonite and the Chemist

The following testimony comes from a priest and theological professor from Brussels with the initials K.K., whose full name appears in the book where the testimony can be found in Όσιος Παΐσιος ο Αγιορείτης (1924-1994), Μαρτυρίες προσκυνητών (vol. 1, 7th edition).

In the spring of 1989 a Greek researcher, a chemist from the European Commission, had entered the Holy Mountain with me, and for him it was the first time coming.

When Elder Paisios saw him, he said to him:

"Hey, blessed one, are you a scientist? I don't think you have a common mind! You've been doing an experiment for so many years and you have this liquid at such and such a high temperature that the liquid is becoming gas. This is why you can't continue your experiment!"

He remained speechless, trying to understand the magnitude of the old man's words. When he understood and realized that the Elder, indeed, indicated the cause of his error, he went immediately and prostrated before the Elder.

He himself later explained to me, that he had been working on an experiment for years and couldn't figure it out.
